All because of a delayed flight, I discovered trout fishing in Texas. Garner State Park on the west of Bandera County in Uvalde County and was stocked in mid December. This gave me a chance to try my new waders. Bottom Line: Fly fishing was not the way to go. Spoke to a one fella who fished the park for three days and caught some fish but the trout close to the dam breast. Dry flies in the early morning sun worked but primarily live bait was the way to catch fish.

Traveled to Garner State Park on a Friday evening.  Camped out under the stars on a cold December night that included a meteor shower.  Hit the Frio River at day break.  Started at top of the lake that is formed from the dam in the park, but got no hits.  Saw one fella catch one in the middle using a cast master.  The trout were hiding among the leaves at the bottom.
