Hunting, Fishing and Wood Gathering
FTIG offers a variety of game species for the outdoorsmen including: deer, turkey, bear, spring gobbler, and small game. Open seasons are in conjunction with Pennsylvania Game Commission dates, visit http://www.pgc.state.pa.us for more information.
You may gather and process fallen timber on FTIG for personal use. Areas are designated daily by range control.
Sportsmen will enjoy fishing for trout, bass and fish in the stocked streams and lakes of FTIG. The seasons are the same as Pennsylvania’s Fish and Boat Commission. Visit their website http://www.fish.state.pa.us for more information.
Hunting, fishing and wood gathering activities on the installation are open to the public, however, training priorities for the armed forces take precedent, and this may result in certain areas being closed. Call the information line at (717) 861-2100 to find out what areas are open.
In addition to PA game laws, Fort Indiantown Gap is subject to FTIG Regulation 215-2 Morale, Welfare, and Recreation: Hunting, Fishing, Wood Gathering, and Outdoor Recreation in the Training Areas which outlines all mandates, copies are available at FTIG Range Operations.
All participants MUST attend a safety briefing offered three times a year and pay the applicable fee. Waivers for the safety briefing are granted for deployed Soldiers.
No horseback riding, boating, ATVs or snowmobiles are permitted on post.
