Peter Danko is a pen name for the editor. Peter grew up in South Central Pennsylvania near Indiantown Gap. Caught his first trout on a john boat in Marquette Lake, Indiantown Gap military reservation in Central Pennsylvania. The Editor is a retired Infantryman.
After 24 years of service, assignments provided very little time to go fishing. Danko was assigned to Infantry staff and command positions with the 101st, 197th Infantry Brigade during Desert Storm and 82d Airborne. Staff assignments ranged from the British HQ Infantry, CENTCOM in Tampa and the Pentagon Army Staff. He retired from active service while assigned to the Asymmetric Warfare Group.
Life after the Army was not very different as a Department of Defense contractor, but more opportunities to fish opened up. A lot of travel with time after work to go fishing. Fort A.P. Hill became a favorite one Fall day.
Peter remains married after 37 years to the same gal with four kids who are all college graduates and have become great young adults. They are working in their areas of study or talent. (We have an empty nest). Grand kids are in the picture and the best part of fishing. The young parents get to be jealous of the fish the grand kids get to catch with their Pawpa.
