What better way to celebrate the Independence Day Holiday than to fish in the Guadalupe on my kayak.
After helping a fella load up his kayak after he spent the night fishing for cats, I got in the water. He loaded up one big 30 pound catfish and went on his way.
I missed a few panfish on a fly rod hopper and got serious and paddles up river looking for sunken logs. I did not have to go far.
The bank was only 20 feet away so it wasn’t a long fight, but it was a good battle. He jumped clear but I was able to land him in the kayak after he doubled my light weight rod when he dove under the kayak. A week later, I still have the teeth marks on my thumb from holding him.
As you can see the kayak got to be a busy place, but I kept him in the boat long enough to get a picture. I wanted the favorite selfie but he was not having any of it. He squirmed, flipped and was in the river.
Just in case you need to find Centerpoint TX:
For additional details on the Launch see my earlier post but below is the zoom in of Lion’s Park in Centerpoint.
Up River about a mile is some very interesting channels and pools that I look forward to in the future.
